Evaluation of Heavy Metal Pollution and Its Potential Ecological Risk in Stream Sediments in Guixi City, Jiangxi Province

  • In order to reveal the content and pollution degree of heavy metal in stream sediments in Guixi city, Jiangxi Province, this paper collected 600 data sets of 1:200 000 sediments measurement in Guixi city. Combined with the distribution characteristics of geological bodies in the study area, it is considered that the formation of high value areas of heavy metals is closely related to the geological background. Content of heavy metals in sediments were statistically analyzed, the Geo-accumulation Index indicated that the heavy metal pollution of Pb in the stream sediments of the southern Guixi is higher. The author analyzes that Pb pollution in this area was come from Yanshanian volcanic rock. The Potential Ecological Risk Index indicated that the potential ecological hazards of Hg and Cd in the study area were higher. The research results have reference significance for environmental pollution control and land planning in this area.
