Xijinwulan Lake-Jinsha River Ophiolite Melange Zone and Its Evolution in the Fenghuo Mountain Area

    • The Xijinwulan lake-Jinsha river ophiolite zone is an important plate subduction-collision suture zone that is located in the northern Qinghai -Tibet plateau. The zone extends from the Lazhulong area to Jinsha rivervia the lake Xijinwulan, Batang area and Derong area. Further to south, it is distributed along the the Ailao mountains and Tengtiao river. So, it is called the Cocoxili-Jinsha river-Ailao mountain ophiolite zone representing an important boundary line between the Songpanganzi terrane and the Qiangtangterrane. The zone is focused as an important tectonic zone by geologists and different opinions existing on its forming age and original spatial distribution. On the basis of previous work of petrology, geochemistry, geoch ronology, structure geology, this study putsstress on material compositions, scale and boundary faults characteristics of the ophiolite mélange zone through road geology investigation and certaincross-section measurements, and further recover and reconst ructevo lution history of the suture zone. The other purpose for the study is to provide more evidence for form ation mechanism of super mountain system of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau and the East Tethys.
