Abstract
The study area lies in the Kashgar depression of basin-range junction belt on southwestern margin of Tarim Basin. From Cenozoic, extremely thick marine and lake-basin strata have accumulated there. Systematic study including sequence stratigraphy and facies analysis has been conducted on the field measured cross sections. Combining with the grain size analysis, this paper reconstructs the development and evolution process of the sedimentary basin from Cenozoic. It is concluded that the basin evolution has very good coupling relationship with both the subduction, composition, collision between Indian and Eurasian Plate, and the uplift of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Meanwhile, it is verified that the rapid uplift of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau occurred after the Late Pliocene.
