Metallogenic Conditions and Prospecting of Volcanic-type Polymetallic Deposits in Binggou-Yazigou Area of Qinghai Province

    • Based on previous mineral survey and researches, combined with the prospecting work conducted by the authors, this paper comprehensively analyzed the characteristics of geology, geochemistry and mineralization of the study area. Four ore occurrences in the optimized major abnormal area were found, whose mineral resource species include copper, silver, lead and zinc. The metallogenesis is volcanic hydrothermal type with structural alteration. The delineated mineralized section is located in the northwest trending secondary faults which are derived from the northwest trending medium-large scale fault. The polymetallic ore body parallel to the alteration zone, and the host rocks are altered dacite and structural-altered rock. This study indicates that the igneous rocks of Binggou-Yazigou area are the source bed of ore because of the higher ore-forming elements content inside. This area develops all kinds of tectonic structures, including the ore-transmitting and hosting structure. The characteristics of geochemical anomaly of this area are high intensity, significant zoning and good identity of concentration centers for ore-forming elements. In the anomaly area, several mineralized alteration zones controlled by the northwest trending fault were found, and many ore bodies with obvious prospecting markers were ringed. The studyarea has good metallogenic conditions and prospecting potential.
