Abstract
Both Hongdun and Halasu lead-zinc deposits are located in the Kelan Neopaleozoic volcanic-sedimentary basin at the southern margin of Altay in Xinjiang. Ore-bearing strata are second lithologic member of lower Aletaizhen formation in middle Devonian. Ore-bearing rocks are laminated siliceous rocks and quartzes sandstone. The main ore bodies are stratoid and lenticular, showing striate, banded and massive structure. The ore bodies are strictly controlled by strata and facies. Ores sedimentary characteristics are obvious with more Zn than Pb, and the sphalerite is hypothermal sphalerite with less Fe. The Hongdun lead-zinc deposit contains no Cu, but the Halasu lead-zinc deposit contains a little Cu. The wall rock alteration shows characteristics of silicification, ferritization, muscovitization, albitization and pyritization etc. Halasu lead-zinc deposit is first discovered, and comparative research shows that it may be situated in the east extension belt of the Hongdun lead-zinc deposit, and has the same ore genesis with Hongdun lead-zinc deposit, which is the SEDEX lead-zinc deposit.
