Geological Characteristics and Prospecting Potential of the Lead-Zinc Polymetallic Deposit in the South Side of Kumasu Area, Altay Mountains

    • The lead-zinc polymetallic ore in the south side of Kumasu area is located in the Kumasu Pb-Zn-Cu-Au metallogenic belt of North Altai. Through the 1:10000 geological survey and 1:10000 rock survey, eleven lead-zinc mine bodies and one copper ore body were discovered. The lead-zinc mine is dominated by volcanic rock and a few quartz veins. The lead-zinc volcanic mine scattered along the thrust faults in northwest direction, and vein type deposits scattered along the tension fault in north east direction. The 1:10000 geochemical anomalies developed in study area, and element anomaly interlocked better. The trend of geochemical comprehensive anomaly area coincided with that of strata, structure and the volcanic type lead-zinc mines, and the geochemical environment is very favorable for mineralization. Based on results of the 1:10000 magnetic survey, the high magnetic anomaly can clearly indicate the tectonic fracture zone, rock alteration zone and part of the rock mass position. On the basis of comprehensive geochemical anomaly in screening, geological and geophysical exploration work was carried out and verified by drilling operation. Breakthroughs are expected to be made in volcanic type lead-zinc polymetallic ore prospecting.
