Analysis on the Distribution and Ore Potentials of Gold Deposits in Xinjiang

  • The gold deposits are widely distributed in Xinjiang, including many large, medium or small gold deposits, which has laid good foundation for ore-prospecting work. After doing the statistical analysis of gold prediction in this region, the gold deposits in Xinjiang can be divided into seven ore concentration area from north to south according to their distribution characteristics, such as Alta, west Junggar, east Junggar, west Tianshan, northeast Tianshan, southwest Tianshan and Altun. Based on the metallogenic characteristics, ore-forming environment, tectonic conditions, wall rock features, ore-bearing construction and mineralizing alteration, these gold deposits can also be attributed into four genetic types, including Marine volcanic, continental volcanic rock, tectonoclastic altered rock and deposition type. And then, these typical gold deposits have been refined into 31 deposit models through synthesizing their metallogenic characteristics. Finally, it's found that the west Tianshan and southwest Tianshan have the best prospecting potential, the area along the southern border of middle Tianshan and northern Tianshan, as well as the northern border of southern Tianshan will be the favorable sections for prospecting the gold deposits, where have large potential for prospecting.
