Study on Carbon Dioxide Gas Reservoir Accumulation Mode in Ping'an Region, Qinghai Province

    • Geological safety assessment is an important basis for the development of carbon storage engineering. To research the reservoir model of natural CO2 gas can demonstrate the feasibility of carbon storage project built in the deep salt water layer. The monitoring of CO2 leakage can be used as a demonstration for the geological safety evaluation of the carbon storage under emergency. Through using the carbon dioxide (CO2) capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) concept, the formation, migration and accumulation model of CO2 gas reservoir in Ping'an region of Qinghai province have been analyzed in this paper. Results show that:①the natural CO2 gas in this region is inorganic gases. ②the high content of CO2 gas from the intermittent high pressure flowing wells (ZK10) reveals that the mixed layer of CO2 gas and water is contained in the cretaceous strata in eastern Qinghai. ③Minhe and Xining Groups are two sets ideal strata to storage CO2 gas. The channel network of CO2 gas reservoir is connected each other by secondary fracture, and the location of fracture intersection is a good development area for highly purified of mantle-derived CO2 gas, which is also the most beneficial region of carbon storage projects in the future.
