Abstract
What mechanisms caused the formation of the Keluke-Tuosuo Lakes is still not known clearly, due to the lack of deeply and systematic studies. To understand the geological background and evolution of the Keluke-Tuosuo Lakes, the field geomorphology and geological characteristics of Lian Lake area have been analyzed through combining with the seismic data from oil exploration and drilling. Several mud volcanoes have been found in the area along Dachaidan-Tuosu Lake fault zone, which are obviously controlled by the active faults. And then, the main reasons for the formation of the Tuosu and Keluke Lakes have been discussed. Since the Carboniferous epoch, the Lian Lake area has experienced several tectonic evolution histories, such as extension, folding and uplift, rifting, compression and depression, weak reverse, weak rift-sagging, depression, and strong reverse. Thus, the formations of the Tuosuo and Keluke Lakes were tightly related to the regional tectonic evolution, especially from the impact from the Himalayas since Neogene period. As the results of the magma intrusion and over thrust, the tertiary strata were uplifted obviously. And then, the Oulongbuluke Mountain, Aimunike Mountain, and some other mountains uplifted significantly, and the Lian Lake area was divided into two parts.
