Abstract
The Kala-tage area is located at the Dananhu-tousuquan island arc in the southern margin of Turpan-Harmi basin. Many Cu-Pb-Zn polymetallic deposits (occurrences), such as Kalasa, Hongshi, Meiling, Hongshan, Honghai, Shaerhu-shaxidong, have been found in this area, with the types of massive sulfide deposit (VMS), epithermal deposit and porphyry deposit. These deposits were mainly formed in Devonian and Carboniferous.Spatially, the massive sulfide Cu-Au deposits and epithermal deposits were occurred within volcaniclastic rocks of Lower Devonian Kala-tage Formation in the western part of this area, while the porphyry deposits were developed within quartz diorite porphyrite and granodiorite porphyry in the northwestern part of this area. These deposits were formed in Dananhu Late Paleozoic island-arc belt, which serves as the southernmost part of Zhungaer plate. And this area has great potential for further prospecting.
