Research and Application of Motorized Shallow Drilling Geochemical Exploration in Yuhai Shallow Overburden Area, East Tianshan

  • The motorized shallow drilling technology for 1:50000 geochemical exploration sampling has been carried out in Yuhai shallow overburden area area, where is the the Gobi desert in East Tianshan, Xinjiang. This paper introduces how to recognize the sampling layer and to select the sampling grain level and other method and technology tests in the Yuhai mining area. The results indicate that the sampling layer can be recognized by its mineral constituent, sample color, hardness difference, clay quantity, drilling information, and particles content with a homologous psephicity. It is preliminarily thought that the sampling layer is under the Quaternary, Neogene and strong weathered clay layer. In terms of the real layer in drill hole, the samples have been successively collected from the completely weathering layer, partly weathering layer and bedrock layer with a grade of -4~+80 mesh in one meter in shallow drilling. According to the results of this experiment, the explicit abnormal of ore-forming elements in the mining area and its surroundings have been obtained through the shallow drilling technology for 1:50000 geochemical survey in Yuhai region, with an covering area of 56 km2. In consequence, the motorized shallow drilling technology can be used for the geochemical survey in the kind of geomorphic environment, such as, the shallow overburden areas in the Gobi desert of East Tianshan.
