Abstract
Xinjiang covers an area of about 1.6×106 km2, where serves as an important gathering place of solid and energy minerals. But the focus of geosciences research are different, their understanding for the constraints on mineral resources are also differences. In this paper, various geological data has been comprehensively analyzed, including the geology and mineral resources in Xinjiang, as well as the magmatic rock, tectonics, geophysics, geochemical, oil, coal, earthquake and uranium geology of Junggar basin, Tarim basin and Tianshan orogenic belt. Taking the molybdenum deposit as an example, the constraints of Carboniferous Junggar sub-mantle plume and Permian Tarim sub-mantle plume on the endogenous metal mineral in Xinjiang and the energy minerals in Junggar and Tarim basins have been illustrated and discussed. It's put forward that these two basins have good potential of mineral mineralization. Finally, the significance of deep mineral prospecting in the Junggar and Tarim basins has been discussed in this paper.
