Abstract
Underground space is an important resource especially for China's first-tier cities suffering from “urban diseases”. This paper takes Guangzhou City as the research area. Based on the geological environmental survey and the main constraints on the development and utilization of local underground engineering, the authors select the evaluation factors that affect the development and utilization of underground space, and adopt the expert-level analysis weighting method to determine the weights of the factors, so as to establish an evaluation model for the suitability of zoning in underground space development and utilization in Guangzhou. The final suitability evaluation map is obtained with the help of ArcGIS software. The results show that among the study area of 1 561 km2, suitable area accounts for 61.64%, less suitable area 37.63%. Only 0.73% of the total area is not suitable for underground engineering.
