Abstract
The Suoerbasitao gold deposit is located in the Bogda late Paleozoic rift basin in Balikun, Xinjiang, and its genesis and ore-forming mechanism are still in dispute. Through carrying out field study, it's found that the Suoerbasitao gold deposit was developed at the edge of the Carboniferous volcanic basin and was controlled by the short axis anticline of the Carboniferous volcano. Furthermore, according to the comprehensive analysis, it's concluded that the Suoerbasitao gold deposit was controlled by Marine volcano, short axis anticline and fault structure. The Suoerbasitao gold deposit has the characteristics of low ore-forming temperature, shallow depth and low salinity. Besides, the ore-forming fluid of this deposit is mainly mixed by meteoric water and magmatic water. No typical mineral assemblage of epithermal deposit exists in this mining area. The ore-forming hydrothermal of this deposit is Permian volcanic hydrothermal, but not the diagenetic hydrothermal of the Carboniferous. Therefore, it's believed that the Suoerbasitao gold deposit is a gold-silver deposit, with the ore-forming type of epithermal deposit-like, which has a great guiding role for further geological prospecting to confirm the ore-forming type of this deposit.
