Discovery of the Conodonts in Upper Triassic Bayankalashan Group, Cabanualdo Region, Qinghai Province and Its Significance

    • Conodonts (Epigondolella sp., Metapolygnathus communisti, Metapolygnathus spp., Metapolygnathus primitius) and foraminifers (Gaudryina sp., Jacullella sp., Verneulinoides maurtii (Terquem), Gaudryina triassica Trifonova, Ammodiscus sp.) are firstly discovered in Upper Triassic Bayankalashan Group, Cabanualdo Lake-Khampat Kardong Lake region, northern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In which, Epigondolella and Metapolygnathus are typical and vary common conodonts in Norian Stage of Late Triassic Period. The foraminifers are also show as common elements of Late Triassic Period. Thus, on the basis of these important biological data, the strata age in this area can be determined. The traditional opinion of Bayankalashan Group Group formed from Early Triassic to Middle Triassic in this area needs to be reviewed.
