Abstract: Desertification of land has been a serious problem of global ecological environment and threatened the living environment and sustainable development of human being socienty. Authors briefly discussed some major issues, such as,the concept and classification of desertification as well as the monitoring and assessment on desertificatiion. The unity of recognition and standards is the first issue which has to be solved today.
