Abstract: A number of suites of Carboniferous,middle-lower Jura ssic and lower Cretaceous hydrocarbon source rocks were developed in the basin groups in the Paleo-Asian and Tethyan structural confluence area.Organic substances for the Carboniferous,Jurassic and Cretaceous source rocks have entered into the mature and over-mature phase,oil generation phase and optimum oil generation phase,respectively.So,there is a great potential to form oil and gas reservoir.Reservoir is very developed in the area,Carboniferous and Permian reservoirs have the characteristic of low permeability and low porosity,Carboniferous reservoir mainly is clastic sedimentary of tidal-flat and lagoon,Permian reservoir is a set coarse clastic rocks of fluvial facies.Jura ssic and Cretaceous reservoir physical properties are comparatively good,and they have the main characteristic of middle porosity and middle permeability,or middle porosity and high permeability,the reservoir is the sedimentary sand body of fluvial-delta facies.Different level evidences of oil and gas have been disp layed,and even the commercial oil flow has been obtained.There are three source-reservoir-cap assem blages: 1.Generation and store with in the same formation.2.segmented a ssem blage of the lower formation generation and the upper formation store.3.buried hill a ssem blage.The resource reserve of oil and gas in the area is about 36.85 hund red millionton.But,nowoil and gas found is just about 1 hundred million tons in the area,so it has great exploration potentia.
